I understand that there is a lot of stress surrounding what to wear for ziplining.
People would often come on our tours very unaware of what works or what to wear for ziplining. Or wearing stuff that was just… not functional.
So let’s start with the ‘what not to wear’ element…
Shorts
Dress
Short skirts
Short things in general
Sandals
Heals
Open toed or open healed shoes
Back packs or bags of any kind
Anything you’re not okay with losing to the bears or river
Camera
What to wear for ziplining…
A shirt with sleeves. You’ll be wearing a harness and don’t want it to rub uncomfortably.
Long pants. Again, you’ll be wearing a harness and don’t want it to rub uncomfortably.
A jacket. You are in Alaska and it isn’t super warm all the time
Socks
Close toed/close healed shoes that are well attached to your feet.
Chums or something to attach your glasses to your face with.
Keep in mind that this is a rain forest!
The chances of it raining are pretty darn high! But if you don’t have a rain jacket, Kawanti Adventures has some they lend out. They are of very good quality.
If you happen to bring a bag, your purse, lose stuff in your pockets, a water bottle, a camera you value, or your phone, or whatever, they have totes in the gear chalet that you can put your stuff in and the workers will keep it until you are done with the tour.
In the six months I worked there, nothing went missing from the totes.
The only things that ever got lost were the cell phones or wallets people insisted on bringing on tour and dropped. It is really hard to find stuff that falls into the forest. It is a rain forest and therefor has a lot of undergrowth.
That being said, I hope you have a wonderful time!
